The History of a Concierge
The term concierge, pronounced "cawn-see-airzh", is French in origin and literally means "Keeper of the keys." A concierge is one of the oldest and most noteworthy professions dating back over 800 years. Personal concierge services first appeared in Europe during the early 1990's. Becoming popular first among the wealthy and then among companies seeking to increase the loyalty of their executives and, depending on the company, their customers. Today, concierges offer a wide range of services, and despite the common misconception that concierges work only for the wealthy. In reality, services are available to people of all incomes.
